Softball Game Preview: Castlewood Blue Devils vs. Thomas Walker Pioneers

Castlewood is a perfect 10-0 against Thomas Walker since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Devils will head out to take on the Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Castlewood fell victim to J.I. Burton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Raiders. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Black Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Anna Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Meanwhile, Thomas Walker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 23-0 to Hancock County.

Castlewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Thomas Walker, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Castlewood's way against Thomas Walker when the teams last played back in April, as Castlewood made off with a 20-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
