The Sparta Academy Warriors came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Patrician Academy 46-31. That's another feather in the cap for Sparta Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Jamie Ellissa Deason, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Johnson, who scored 17 points.
Sparta Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Patrician Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crenshaw Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Crenshaw Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Sparta Academy is ranked 81st). Patrician Academy and Southern Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
