Baseball Recap: Mayfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aurora

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mayfield). They put the hurt on the Aurora Greenmen with a sharp 10-1 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Dom Prince tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Mayfield got a big performance out of JD Dinnen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen DiPietro, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-14. As for Aurora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Mayfield is taking a road trip to face off against Nordonia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Aurora, they will face off against Lake at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
