Cuyama Valley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 348 from 404. The advance stemmed from a 64-38 victory over Valley Christian Academy last week.
The Lions' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jed Hedlund threw for 301 and three touchdowns and Malac Taylor had 133 yards receiving. On the ground Andy Wilson chipped in 37 yards. Luke Nichols helped Valley Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching five balls for 111 yards.
Valley Christian Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hedlund has thrown for 1131 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Taylor has 23 catches for 511 yards. Wilson leads the league in rushing with 394 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Shandon takes on the Bears. The Outlaws are in third place, while Cuyama Valley is in second place.
Charlie Bosma's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on Valley Christian Academy.
