Abington Heights got a massive performance out of Avary Brister, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Brister a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Long, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Abington Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, West Scranton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 16-7 to North Pocono.
Mckenna Brudnicki led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Tallo, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Abington Heights' victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for West Scranton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
West Scranton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Abington Heights has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for West Scranton, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Abington Heights' sizable advantage in that area, the Invaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Abington Heights got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against West Scranton by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Invaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
