Kirkwood took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They really took it to the Sycamore War Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-6 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.
Josiah Claybrooks went supernova for Kirkwood, rushing for 173 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Claybrooks really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Reding, who threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt.
Kirkwood wouldn't let Sycamore keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Kirkwood can thank Torrens Malone and Claybrooks for forcing both of them. Claybrooks also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Kirkwood is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they challenge Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sycamore, they will take on Lawson on Friday.
