After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Academy at the Lakes, the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic by a score of 38-26. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Foundation Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played on January 11th.
Foundation Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Steffi Chilton, who scored 17 points along with seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chilton has scored at least a third of Foundation Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Rodriguez, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keegan Castelli, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Castelli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aliana Arana, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Foundation Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
Foundation Christian Academy and Brandon Academy will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brandon Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Universal Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Universal Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
