Mitchell Stivers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Hornung, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Flatirons Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bishop Machebeuf by a score of 4-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.
Caleb Doughty made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Doughty wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Flatirons Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Machebeuf struck out eight times.
Otis' defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Flatirons Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Otis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Flatirons Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
