St. Augustine is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Palatka a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets will be playing at home against the Palatka Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
St. Augustine managed to slip by Menendez the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Yellow Jackets came up short against the Falcons on Wednesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Yellow Jackets have suffered against the Falcons since September 27, 2022.
St. Augustine was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-13, 25-21.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Palatka took on Taylor on Tuesday. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Wildcats. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 25-12 in the first set.
Palatka started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17.
St. Augustine will have to contain Sydni Spencer as she made an impact in Palatka's last game. She had 27 digs and two aces. Spencer has been hot recently, having also posted 15 or more assists the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Zimmerman, who had 15 assists and 11 digs.
Palatka's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
St. Augustine was able to grind out a solid victory over Palatka in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
