The Caliche Buffaloes's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top against Otis by a score of 48-38. The victory was just what Caliche needed coming off of a 77-26 loss in their prior matchup.
Caliche's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karsyn Huss, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. Huss has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hernandez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Otis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lydia Willeke, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Willeke has scored all season. Madelyn Willeke was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Caliche's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Otis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caliche will face off against Akron at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday. Otis won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Weldon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
