5A District 2 recap October 22, 2013
West Monroe scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Ruston, 34-13. At the time, the Bearcats were ranked 15th in the state, while the Rebels were 27th.
Alexandria moved up to 142 from 177 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 2. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Pineville 30-24.
Pineville's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Rebels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Keandre Rockett has thrown for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Ronnie Campbell has 7 catches for 118 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when West Monroe takes on the Rebels. Don Shows' team is currently in first, while Pineville is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Rebels and Robbie Martin's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, West Monroe comes in having scored 185 this season, while the Rebels have scored 138. The Rebels scored 34 points last week as they defeated Ruston.
West Monroe was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Rebels defeated Billy Laird's team 34-13.
