The Yosemite Badgers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 46-37 defeat to Avenal.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Scott Phillips, who scored nine points along with three steals. Thomas Huynh was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Yosemite has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Avenal, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
