Ryan Pitts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lakeland Preparatory got a massive performance out of Jack McDaniel, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave McDaniel a new career-high. Peeler Easton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Lakeland Preparatory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .452 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Lakeland Preparatory's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Tipton Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tipton Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lakeland Preparatory struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts.
