The Forest Hills Yellow Jackets can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Central Academy by a score of 60-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Forest Hills also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Forest Hills found their leader in underclassman Amari Melton, who scored 18 points. Melton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Kj Chambers was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zach Mcdowell, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Hoff, who scored 19 points.
Forest Hills now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Central Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forest Hills on the road again on Friday and play against Anson at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Anson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 268 points over their last four games. As for Central Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Central Academy in North Carolina (Monroe is ranked 282nd, while Central Academy is ranked 640th).
