Nicholas County is 0-7 against Sissonville since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Nicholas County Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Sissonville Indians at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Nicholas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Nicholas County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Summers County, but they still walked away with a 42-36 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nicholas County.
Nicholas County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrienne Truman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Truman has scored at least 25% of Nicholas County's points. Tateny Mylott was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Sissonville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 61-25 victory over Hoover. The win was just what Sissonville needed coming off of a 58-37 defeat in their prior contest.
Sissonville can attribute much of their success to Kynadee Britton, who scored 18 points along with six steals, and Makaela Ullman, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ullman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Makinley Britton, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Nicholas County's record now sits at 4-1. As for Sissonville, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Nicholas County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Sissonville, though, as they've been averaging only 39.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Nicholas County came up short against Sissonville in their previous matchup back in February, falling 61-55. Can Nicholas County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
