Basketball Recap: Logan Schaupert Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Festus

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cardinal Ritter College Prep, Farmington was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-42 victory over the Festus Tigers. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Tigers are ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Farmington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Schaupert, who went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. Schaupert's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cooper Tripp was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Farmington's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Festus, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.

Farmington will take on Potosi at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Potosi knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Farmington likes a good challenge. As for Festus, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-45 loss against Jefferson on the 29th.
