Antwerp has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Antwerp Archers and the Wayne Trace Raiders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Antwerp has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 180 points over their last three contests.
Antwerp posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They really took it to Lincolnview for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-32 win at home. With Antwerp ahead 37-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Antwerp's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Brewer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Brewer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Reid Lichty was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Wayne Trace's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by Hiland on the road and fell 66-38. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wayne Trace has scored all season.
Antwerp's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Wayne Trace, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.
Antwerp couldn't quite finish off Wayne Trace in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 and fell 46-43. Can Antwerp avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
