Johnsburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Harlem Huskies. Even if the Skyhawks couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Kimmy Whitlock stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Abri Bruns, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
As for Harlem, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Harlem's side, Maddy Merschman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Merschman has posted since back in March of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Harlem got a massive performance out of Adriah Sholl, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Sholl has posted since back in May of 2025. Rylie Adams was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Looking ahead, Johnsburg will venture away from home to square off against McHenry at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Harlem, they will host Rockford Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
