Even though the Fairborn Skyhawks have not done well against the West Carrollton Pirates recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fairborn had just enough and edged West Carrollton out 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Fairborn has posted yet this season.
Fairborn's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taiyou Williams, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Sean Townsend was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Fairborn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for West Carrollton, they bumped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
