Make it six blowout wins for the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Harrisburg Christian 71-41 at home. Winning may never get old, but Mount Calvary Christian sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Mount Calvary Christian had a senior duo take command as Zach Witmer almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds and Avery Kopcha scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Witmer also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Robinson, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Several Harrisburg Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cooper Gesswein, who scored nine points along with three blocks. Gesswein has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Judah Kleinschmidt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Harrisburg Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mount Calvary Christian racked up 12 assists.
Mount Calvary Christian now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Harrisburg Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Mount Calvary Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Lions at 8:00 p.m. Lancaster County Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Harrisburg Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
