West Shamokin won the last time they faced River Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wolves put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Wolves have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Braden Talmadge, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Max Long was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

West Shamokin is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

West Shamokin and River Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Wolves will face off against Conemaugh Township at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (314 vs. 112). Meanwhile, River Valley (ranked 511th) will meet Kiski School (ranked 80th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
