While it was all tied up 37-37 at halftime, the North Pitt Panthers were not quite the Northampton County Jaguars's equal in the second half on Saturday. North Pitt took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northampton County. While losing is never fun, North Pitt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Northampton County is ranked 134th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keymauri Brooks, who scored 15 points. Jamarcus Pippens was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northampton County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jiyoun Williams, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds. Williams continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Blake, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
North Pitt are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Northampton County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
North Pitt will be playing at home against East Wake at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. East Wake is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Northampton County, they will challenge North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Edgecombe has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 738 points over their last ten matches.
