Baseball Recap: Valencia Triumphs

Valencia won the last time they faced Moriarty and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Valencia Jaguars narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Moriarty Pintos 5-3.

Brady Hoefler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ancel Rossell and Pryce Henry did most of the damage at the plate: Rossell scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Henry scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Henry also scored two runs, which is notable because Valencia is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Zaylon Zamora was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Valencia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Valencia now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Moriarty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valencia will welcome West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mesa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Moriarty, they will be taking part in a tournament against Gallup at 4:00 p.m. on March 27th.
