Havre de Grace and Edgewood are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Havre de Grace Warriors will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Edgewood Rams at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Havre de Grace posted their biggest win since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 45-19 margin over Joppatowne. Given Havre de Grace's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Joppatowne is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Havre de Grace got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Savannah Lawrence out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawrence has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Azareya Whiting, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Even though Edgewood has not done well against Bel Air recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Edgewood took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 60-23 win over Bel Air.
Havre de Grace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Edgewood, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Havre de Grace was able to grind out a solid victory over Edgewood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 37-27. Does Havre de Grace have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edgewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
