After flying high against Sewickley Academy last Saturday, the Avonworth Antelopes came back down to earth. Avonworth was beaten by Montour 65-38 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Avonworth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Montour is ranked 17th).
Leading Montour to victory were Ama tening Sow and Jake Wolfe. Sow dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Wolfe scored 25 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Sow is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Daniel Batch was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.

Avonworth will be playing in front of their home fans against Brentwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avonworth is coming into the matchup with four straight losses at home, meaning Brentwood will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Montour, they will head out on the road to take on Quaker Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montour knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Quaker Valley likes a good challenge.
