Freeman and Deer Park are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Freeman Scotties will be playing in front of their home fans against the Deer Park Stags at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Deer Park is ranked 24th).
Last Saturday, Freeman was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-36 to Colville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Freeman has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Freeman had strong showings from Taylee Phelps, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Rylee Russell, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Phelps is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played.
Meanwhile, Deer Park put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Newport, posting a 73-17 win at home. Deer Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 31 points or more this season.
Freeman's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Deer Park, they pushed their record up to 16-0 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home.
