Irvin is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Bowie is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Irvin Rockets will take on the Bowie Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Irvin has not done well against Harmony Science Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Irvin walked away with a 46-39 win over Harmony Science Academy. The win was just what Irvin needed coming off of a 68-29 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Bowie scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 75-37 victory over Austin. Bowie has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Bowie found their leader in underclassman Johan Camacho, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Camacho has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joe Rodriguez, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Irvin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-15 record this season. As for Bowie, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Irvin couldn't quite finish off Bowie in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 36-34. Can Irvin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
