Wheeler hasn't had much luck against Ledyard recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lions will face off against the Colonels at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wheeler comes in on three and Ledyard on four.
On Saturday, Wheeler made easy work of Windham and carried off a 23-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Victoria Kleeman looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wheeler got a massive performance out of Abby Butremovic, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Isabella Deledda was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Wheeler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ledyard posted their closest victory since April 10th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Stonington.
Alexia Lemmon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Lemmon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Julia Bonser was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Starling, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Ledyard pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wheeler, their record is now 8-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wheeler has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ledyard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wheeler was able to grind out a solid victory over Ledyard in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 12-8. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colonels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
