Kyle Hawkins and Chris Martin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Augustine. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in Metro - Mesa this season.
Otay Ranch moved up to 60 from 138 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to make the jump by beating the Saints 29-27.
Bonita Vista's dynamic duo of AUSTIN KANE and ATAL KHALIQ proved tough for Scripps Ranch to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. KANE threw for 354 yards and three touchdowns and KHALIQ had 227 yards receiving. CALEB SU helped Bonita Vista's passing attack out by catching three balls for 77 yards.
Jevante Reed was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 215 yards on 22 carries as Chula Vista bested the Falcons. Teammate Hui Wolfgramm added to the ground attack by rushing for 28 yards.
Bonita Vista's KANE and KHALIQ have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Metro - Mesa in both passing and receiving yards. KANE has thrown for 845 yards this season, while KHALIQ, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 24 catches for 460 yards. The Spartans' Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 733.
Otay Ranch extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Augustine, 29-27. The victory was the fourth in a row for Anthony Lacsina's team.
