The Magee Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seminary Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Magee is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Magee lost to Jefferson Davis County on the road by a decisive 43-29 margin. While losing is never fun, Magee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Jefferson Davis County is ranked 29th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Christian Hubbard, who picked up 174 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kendal Middleton, who threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns.
Seminary fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 25-6 win over Hazlehurst on Friday. 25 seems to be a good number for Seminary as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Jefferson Davis County's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Magee's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
Magee didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Seminary when the teams last played back in October of 2020, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. Does Magee have another victory up their sleeve, or will Seminary turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
