The Southview Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. The contest between Southview and Lima Senior wasn't particularly close, with Southview falling 47-32. Southview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lima Senior apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.
Southview's loss came despite strong showings from Lacie Filas and Mikayla Dorn. Filas scored 16 points along with five steals, while Dorn scored eight points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Filas has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Southview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lima Senior's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maisie Strawser, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Strawser has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Angie Kohlhofer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Southview bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.2 points per game. As for Lima Senior, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, Southview and Lima Senior will both be playing Scott the next time they take the court. Southview will host Scott at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lima Senior will host them at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
