Miami Country Day hasn't had much luck against Marathon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Miami Country Day took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Riviera Prep as they made off with a 13-3 win.

Miami Country Day let Adam Jackson and Parker Zaron run wild. Jackson scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Zaron went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those five stolen bases gave Jackson a new career-high. Quinn Smith also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Marathon made easy work of Mater Bay Academy on Friday and carried off a 10-3 victory. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.
Mason Thornton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Stubblefield Jr., who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Leo Mendez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Country Day, their record now sits at 5-12.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Miami Country Day has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Marathon struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Miami Country Day might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Marathon when the teams last played back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
