Newark Memorial had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-run drubbing they dealt American on Tuesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 29-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Addyson Waterhouse made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Andrea Tall was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alyvia Costa, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Newark Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Newark Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for American, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

The timing is sure in the Cougars' favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Huskies have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
