Basketball Recap: Covenant Academy Takes a Loss

Covenant Academy lost against Central Fellowship Christian Academy back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Covenant Academy were dealt a 70-40 loss at the hands of the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers. While losing is never fun, Covenant Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Central Fellowship Christian Academy is ranked 89th).

Despite the loss, Covenant Academy still got an impressive performance from Ryan Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Stevens is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Lucas Fisher was another key player, putting up nine points.

Central Fellowship Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaheem Barbosa, who posted 18 points. With that strong performance, Barbosa is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Judson Walls, who put up 15 points.

Covenant Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Covenant Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-41 loss against Windsor Academy on the 16th. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Piedmont Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
