The Eagle Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Middleton Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Eagle sitting on four straight wins and Middleton on seven.
Eagle had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Meridian on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Warriors 13-3. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrew Palfreyman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Palfreyman was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Eagle let Mike Stebel and Brady Ford run wild. Stebel went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Ford went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Ford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Swanstrom, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Middleton faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Middleton also got a great performance from Ian Lenius as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Lenius has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Keithley, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Jedsen Aldrich was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Middleton pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Eagle, their record now sits at 11-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eagle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Middleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
