Softball Recap: Spotsylvania Has No Trouble Against Mechanicsville

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Spotsylvania had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Mechanicsville Mustangs as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Morgan Maslock, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mechanicsville off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caroline Carter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Spotsylvania is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mechanicsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Spotsylvania has already played their next game (against Patrick Henry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mechanicsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
