Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Lynnwood should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Shorewood at 7:00 PM. Lynnwood stagger into the contest hobbled by five consecutive losses while Shorewood skip in buoyed by three consecutive wins.
Lynnwood found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 7-33 punch to the gut against Edmonds-Woodway last Friday. The loss shouldn't obscure the performances of sophomore Christian Kirkman, who passed for 176 yards and 1 touchdown, and sophomore Tanner Fahey, who caught passes for 104 yards and 1 touchdown. Kirkman has been a consistent playmaker for Lynnwood as this was the 5th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, Shorewood won the last time they faced Everett, and things went their way, too. Shorewood took down Everett 30-13. 30 seems to be a good number for Shorewood as the team scooped up a win with the same point total in their match last week.
Shorewood's victory lifted them to 5-1 while Lynnwood's defeat dropped them down to 0-5. We'll see if Shorewood's success rolls on or if Lynnwood are able to steal their positive momentum.
