Another reason for the win was Midlothian Heritage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jonathan Anderson Ii, Maddox Aldape, and Jaylin Hawkins, who each picked up one sack apiece. Owen Menicucci was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles and making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.
Despite the defeat, Texas had strong showings from Tradarian Ball, who picked up 134 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Kameron Wrightner, who threw for 308 yards and three TDs. A healthy portion of Wrightner's aerial production (92 yards to be exact) also went to Xavier Powell.
Midlothian Heritage's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points over those games. As for Texas, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
