POTEAU, Okla. -
Poteau (Okla.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 22 in Oklahoma, but was stunned by
Cascia Hall (Tulsa, Okla.), 26-15. Cascia Hall was ranked at No. 62 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Oklahoma coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Miquel Rosendo in the first quarter, the Commandos led 14-0 at the half.
Cascia Hall saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to 13 entering the fourth.
The loss snapped Poteau's six-game winning streak.
CH entered the contest giving up 21.7 points per game this year. A defensively strong the Tulsa school kept the Pirates well below the 43.0 points it had been averaging per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Poteau, which notched a 42-28 victory over Fort Gibson in its previous outing.
In a 4A District 4 game next week Poteau (6-1) takes on Muldrow, and Cascia Hall (6-1) will go up against Fort Gibson also in a 4A District 4 game.
