After a string of six wins, the HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 54-30 loss at the hands of Fuchs Mizrachi. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as HEARTS for Jesus Christ came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Fuchs Mizrachi is ranked 535th).
Alex Zelenka and Maria Cottenden certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Zelenka dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Cottenden scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. The match was Zelenka's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Even though they lost, HEARTS for Jesus Christ were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Fuchs Mizrachi, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Christian Community at 6:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Fuchs Mizrachi, they will play host again and welcome Orange, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on December 27th.
