The Rockdale Tigers will face off against the Lexington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Rockdale will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Friday, then bounced right back against West last Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Tigers have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Lexington came into Saturday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Bartlett on Saturday.
Braylon Fritsch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fritsch was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
In other pitching news, KL Smith looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lexington is 4-0-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6-1 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Peyton Stevens was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lexington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carson Beck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Rockdale's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6-2.
Rockdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Lexington in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
