If Salome was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Desert Heights Prep last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Frogs fell just short of the Williams Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Frogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 25-16 in the first set.
Salome actually scored more points across those five sets (112-110), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-23, 29-31, 25-23, 15-10.
Brianna Thomas paced Salome's offense, picking up 16 kills. Thomas got some help from Brittny Soberanes and her 34 assists. Finally, Amanda Trisch kept Salome's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.
Williams' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrina Baldwin, who had 36 digs and two aces. What's more, Baldwin posted two kills, the most she's had since September 2nd. Another player making a difference was Lily Weatherhead, who had 39 assists and 14 digs.
Salome now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Williams, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Salome didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Seligman on the 2nd. As for Williams, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Ash Fork on the 1st.
