The Northeast Vikings will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Motivation Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northeast comes in on seven and Motivation on four.
Last Tuesday, the stars were shining brightly for Northeast in a 58-43 win over String Theory. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while String Theory is ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darrius Gaeta, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Gaeta's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Michael Freeman, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Motivation beat Randolph Vo-Tech 49-43 on Thursday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Motivation has scored all year.
Among those leading the charge was Kevin Looney, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Siriman Singare, who scored ten points.
Northeast pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Motivation, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
