Spokane had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past the Verona Wildcats with a 66-62 victory on Thursday. The Owls' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Spokane found their leader in sophomore Lilyan Carr, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 11 rebounds. Lillian Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Spokane's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Verona, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spokane will face off against Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Spokane is facing Seymour at the right time seeing as Seymour is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Verona, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sarcoxie at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
