Ellie Crawford made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Mea Sneath was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Gabby Reif was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Hoisington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Haven made easy work of Larned on Thursday and carried off a 15-5 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Like Hoisington, Haven also got a great game from a two-way player: Avery Brawner. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Brawner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan O'Neal, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mayzie Warden, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Haven's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hoisington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hoisington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .561. However, it's not like Haven struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hoisington couldn't quite get it done against Haven when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
