Even though the Aiken Falcons have not done well against the Hughes BIG RED recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Aiken's way against Hughes as Aiken made off with a 70-50 victory. Given Aiken's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Hughes is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aiken to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Burnett, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Arnold, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Aiken pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hughes, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Aiken will head out on the road to take on Woodward at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hughes, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Withrow at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Withrow focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
