After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, the Lakeland Dreadnaughts brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They enjoyed a cozy 55-38 victory over Bartow on Monday. The victory was just what Lakeland needed coming off of a 54-7 loss in their prior match.
Lakeland found their leader in underclassman Zakharia Rutledge, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Rutledge. Antwanique Cave was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jj West, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Bartow, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will take on Tampa Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tampa Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakeland in Florida (Tampa Catholic is ranked 132nd, while Lakeland is ranked 431st). As for Bartow, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Auburndale at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Auburndale is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
