Oldham County is a perfect 3-0 against Bullitt Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Oldham County will welcome Bullitt Central at 5:30 p.m. Oldham County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Oldham County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Franklin County 15-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Colonels needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Hayden Keiswetter looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Josiah McCall and Noah Stinson did most of the damage at the plate: McCall scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Stinson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. McCall also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Logan Osisek, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Oldham County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bullitt Central entered their tilt with Campbellsville on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Eagles.
Bullitt Central got a big performance out of Mason Burton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Jordan Powell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Bullitt Central pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Oldham County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oldham County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Bullitt Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
