The Andrews Yellowjackets struggled with assists on Friday (the Cane Bay Cobras had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Andrews received a tough blow as they fell 57-41 to Cane Bay. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Andrews in their matchups with Cane Bay: they've now lost four in a row.
Andrews' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vincent Rhue, who scored 11 points. Sharod Sumpter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Cane Bay had a senior duo take command as Curtrell Dixon scored 12 points along with eight steals and Isaac Smalls scored 14 points along with five steals. Dixon also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jarvis Roper, who scored ten points.
Andrews' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4. As for Cane Bay, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andrews will be home for the holidays to greet Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Georgetown is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Cane Bay won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Tasmania National Intensive Training (Prospect, Australia) at 8:00 p.m. on December 16th.
