The Blount Leopards pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Theodore. Blount lost against Theodore in their previous head to head last Tuesday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-59 score last time.
Despite the loss, Blount saw an underclassman step up: Jaiden Beck scored 19 points along with seven assists. Beck scored a full 31.7% of Blount's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Taldon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Theodore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Walter Cobb led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jaden "JJ" Bush was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Blount has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Theodore, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
Blount will head out on the road to face off against Murphy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Murphy and Blount are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Theodore, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Saraland at 7:30 p.m. Saraland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
